As today closes, August closes. That's hard to believe as it's been a busy month. This week was no different from the others. My wife had 3 second interviews and 1 first interview this week which is great. Our daughter broke her first bracket in her braces which is not-so-great (but common). Our son started scouts again which is fine. And I worked and tried to provide emotional support for it all (which isn't natural or easy for me).
What I wrote
- I just got one article in on forming communities. Follow ups are already in the works so if you enjoyed it, feel free to subscribe now!
Links worth sharing
- GOP leaders have an MO and it's not good. This time in my state of NC.
- Loved reading about the work Fiona Apple has been up to. She wrote music about it too!
- Batman showed up in Florida. He may not be the hero we wanted but perhaps the one we needed?
- Tom Morello has a special ICE focused playlist. Check it out!
- I enjoyed this missive on blog analytics. I collect minimal analytics for 2 reasons: keep an eye on visits from some locations and curiousity about what people enjoy (or not).
- Love Nick's thoughts about how he uses omg.lol. Check it out! (It'll be featured in my postroll too!)
Apps worth checking out
- Peekaping: I recently started using Peekaping for uptime monitoring. It's self-hosted, has status pages and a lot of different monitoring options. I know uptime kuma is the gold standard but this clicks with me more than that did.
- Ente: I also just started hosting ente as an alternative to Immich. I'm really liking it so far and will likely write about it soon.
