It's been a week...

Weekly Roundup

It's hard to believe August is almost over. It's been a busy month and it's been quite some time since I last did one of these so a lot has happened. I'll just focus on the highs and lows of the week though:

  • The Biggest High: Our kids started back to school. The summer has been great and we've had lots of fun but when both you and your wife remote work, having the kids always around gets challenging at times.
  • Our daughter had braces put on this week. They'll be an unfortunately constant companion for the next 3 years. I think she's most upset about not being able to eat popcorn.
  • My wife is on the job hunt. Her specialty (if I can say it like that) is social media marketing in the book space. This is what she's been doing for the last few years and what she would love to continue doing. She wants to continue working remote and is open to anything broadly in the social media marketing space (so if you know of anything...let me know!

What I Wrote

It's light this week. Just "Introducing KRRD on Ghost".

  • Daniel Miessler shared his thoughts on where he thinks everything is going and spoiler alert: it's not exactly pretty. I found his comments to be insightful though.
  • I really appreciated Jedda's post on making friends as an adult. It's such a hard thing.
  • Do you know the history of the TLD .io? If not, read this page - it contains a lot of important history and might just change you viewpoint of .io.
  • I find reading about different peoples productivity or life management systems to be really insightful. This is one of those posts that Ning put a lot of time and care into. Check it out!
  • If you aren't blogging - why not??? Here's a list of small web apps to get you started!

Apps Worth Checking Out

  • Planify is an interesting open-source app that syncs with Todoist.
  • Mailx is a new beta email aliasing service that looks really interesting (from iVPN).
