My Web Presence

TLDR: Follow Krrd.ing for everything website related. Follow @mbjones@social.lol for everything social media related. That’ll get you what you want, probably.

Intro

I’ve been trying to figure what to do with my web presence for awhile. I like writing. I like tinkering with code (from making weird flash sites in college, to building my own blog platform, to lots of other things so not having a web presence for me isn’t a valid option. I feel like having a space to create and tinker is really healthy for me.

This (waving hands wildly) all started out a long time ago with the name kardee as a social media handle and mbjones for anything needing a more professional touch (mbjones.net was my first domain). When I got married and moved overseas, branandjuli became a primary part of the web presence (branandjuli.com). Then it all settled “nicely” into the domain and moniker catalyze.in.

I use scare quotes there with “nicely” because I actually dropped mbjones.net around that time and sunk all my marbles in that basket, which is a bit of a regret. Much of what I was focused on writing centered on mission, decentering western presence in mission and seeing it decolonized as a wider industry so that moniker (catalyze.in) seemed like the fit.

Now that we’ve moved back to the US, this part of me exists, but not in the same way. The catalyze.in moniker wasn’t a good fit so I leaned into wand3r.net as a placeholder. As I processed how I wanted to express myself online I went back to my roots with that old social media handle (which still gets use): kardee. I found a domain that stylized it a bit and I’m very happy with the results (even if it might seem a bit weird): krrd.ing.

Sites

krrd.ing is what I consider to be my primary web presence.

I’ve set it up to be a bit more…polished…? I’m not sure if that’s the write but It’s what’s in my mind. I post longer essay articles here. I also have a page dedicated to what I post elsewhere. It collects them all in an easy-to-find way. Eventually I’ll figure out how to turn it into an rss feed so if someone wanted to subsrcibe to everything at once they could (it’s a holiday project!). My postroll also lives on this site. Its my collection of links to articles from other people that really stuck out to me.

wand3r.net remains as a more personal journal.

It’ll lean into the personal (like my Week Notes!) and shorter unstructured articles and commentary. I hope that while personal, it can still be a bit fun and adventurous as implied by the mountain icon and tagline: not all who wander are lost…

images.krrd.ing is for photos I’ve taken that I really like.

Each post is an image accompanied by a (typically short) story or anecdote. Over the years I’ve found photography to be a fun creative outlet. I don’t promise to show you the best photo you’ve ever seen but hopefully viewers can find a photo or two that speaks to them over time.

catalyze.in is an old site I recently revived.

As mentioned above, it is focused on writing centered on mission, decentering western presence in mission and seeing it decolonized as a wider industry. It originally was a substack newsletter but I closed it down when I moved back to the US. A dear friend from East Africa asked me to revive it for himself and some of his colleagues so I did. I might still update it from time to time but I probably won’t include these posts in the timeline view on krrd.ing.

Social Media

social.lol is my main haunt.

It’s a mastodon instance, a really fun community and a great social media “home”. As a bonus, you can follow me there from anything that federates with activity pub (pretty much). I’m @mbjones@social.lol over there.

I’ve got a presence on Bluesky too.

There are several communities that have migrated to there from twitter that I enjoy interacting with. Most of my post there are just crossposted from Mastodon though. You can find my profile link on this homepage. Of note: I do use Bluesky for comments and likes on these posts. Each post has a link to a corresponding Bluesky post where comments are pulled into the main post. Feel free to interact with them if you want!

some.pics is my version of instagram.

It’s for snaps of life to be replicated to other social media sites. It’s not the quality of the photos on images.krrd.ing above and is meant to just share a quick moment. Find my main page here.

If you don’t see it listed, I’m not really there.

I canceled my twitter account and don’t use meta sites either. I think I might still have a linkedin profile out there, somewhere. Tiktok is a hard pass (but you do you if you like it!). Know of another site? Probably not for me either, sorry.

Hopefully it’s clear where to find me now.

Hopefully it makes sense how I’ve broken the sites down. It all might eventually change (but probably not anytime soon). I’m super excited to keep writing, tinkering and creating!

I would like to subscribe to krrd.ing's RSS feed if it gets one! I've subscribed to wand3r.net's feed. 🙂

It has one linked on main page for the posts that are exclusively there - just not the “everything combined one” :) I think krrd.ing/rss.xml if memory serves me
