weekly overview
I’m a couple days late but it is what it is. Last week was more rough than easy:
- My daughter got quite sick but had lots of pressure from the school to get back because it was end-of-year testing.
- We tried to go to this event that seemed really cool and structured like a Taiwanese night market but it was a horrible experience. We waited in traffic for an hour plus - Juli and kids finally had to bail and walk from the road in while I creeped to find someplace to park. Plus, once they got in, it was wall-to-wall people which was quite stressful for them too. The tickets were incredibly specific for Saturday 12-5 but she got an email yesterday telling her to arrive at 10:30 because they thought it’d be too busy. Why bother sending two days after the event???? All in all - a train wreck. I’m pretty convince that events that cost money at the fairgrounds are not worth it. I’m still a bit bitter because I was super excited about it but only got the pleasure of driving at a snails pace.
- My wife left for 9 days on the Italian beach...without the rest of us. Her work has a yearly retreat there so she hit the jackpot in that regard.
What I wrote...
- Just one piece on dehumanization.
Links Worth Sharing...
- Communick looks interesting. For a low yearly price they offer access to managed Matrix, Mastodon, Funkwhale and Lemmy instances. I’ve not subscribed and am only really interested in Matrix but thought it worth sharing.
- I love reading about other peoples workflows. To that end, this is a great post where the author details building their own Obsidian alternative (something I’m experimenting with SilverBullet for).
- Mailbox.org just started a beta of the next gen version of their web suite. It’s pretty great and a noticeable improvement!
What I Listened To...
In the last week

Apps Worth A Mention
- I started experimenting with Journelly.
- LetterSpace looks quite interesting as a mailchimp alternative. I wish it did RSS-to-campaign automations though.
